So I found my journal from when I was in second grade. I’m not sure about other public school systems, but LAUSD required us to keep a journal that we were supposed to write in during class. Anyway, I found a few gems I had to share:
I’ve uploaded it onto YouTube for the time being until I get my website in order. Please watch it in high quality! The colors got a bit messed up, but I’m not sure how to fix it.
You can also watch it HD here! Enjoy!
I should really be working, but I had to post.
James Gurney, the creator of Dinotopia, came to Ringling today. Even though I was already pretty familiar with most of the things he talked about as most of it’s posted on his blog, the lecture was really inspiring and made me wish I knew/want to learn how to paint.
To say that I loved the books as a kid would be an understatement. So, of course, I had to ask for a drawing without seeming too nervous or crazy. Not sure if I managed to pull off the latter, but here’s a little photo of the diplodocus (I spelled that correctly on my own!) he drew in my copy of the new book, and the drawing of my thesis character he did in my sketchbook. (!!!!!!)

(Apologies for the terrible image quality; I took the picture with my phone.)
Back to work!,
Kim
Oh, and about the title of this post? It’s the English translation of ‘Dinotopia’ in Chinese. Ha!
